Day 6-Last day in Perth/Arival in Bali-5/27/2024
Today is our final day in Perth. With our flight not departing until 2:25 p.m., we had a relaxed morning, time for breakfast, followed by an easy stroll around Elizabeth Quay. The water was calm, the city quiet, and it felt good to take in those last views of the bridge and the skyline. From there, we wandered through London Court, enjoying its old-world charm and the little shops tucked beneath the Tudor-style arches. Eventually we headed to the airport and boarded our flight. A few hours later, around 6:00 p.m., we landed in Bali, ready to begin the next chapter of our trip.

He was getting ready to get on the scooter. So cute!

Elizabeth Quay is so quiet in the morning, and that calm makes it even more beautiful. With the blue sky reflected on the water and the city still waking up, the whole area feels peaceful and bright, a perfect way to start the day.

At Elizabeth Quay, the ferry station sits under a large blue canopy that curves like a wave, matching the water beside it and adding a splash of color to the quiet morning scene.

From here you can see the two big arches of the Elizabeth Quay Bridge.

The bridge on the left and on the right the First Contact sculpture (silver bird).

It is really quiet here, there is nobody but us around.

Overview of the Quay.

On the quay, I notice a few beautiful Eucalyptus caesia trees, their branches arching gracefully with clusters of bright red flowers.

Each blossom hangs beneath a rounded, silvery bell-shaped bud cap, giving the tree a delicate, almost ornamental look. The contrast of the red petals, pale stems, and soft blue-green leaves makes them stand out beautifully against the morning light at Elizabeth Quay.

We really enjoyed walking around here. So pretty and so quiet.

We are now at Barrack Square, standing in front of the Bell Tower with its fascinating, modern shape rising into the sky.

The glass and copper panels catch the light beautifully, giving it a shimmering, sculptural look. Beneath it, a series of small fountains dance across the pavement, their gentle splashes adding a playful sound to the square. It’s a lively, charming spot right by the water.

We are now walking along St George’s Terrace, and ahead of us stands a striking metal sculpture with three enormous black circles suspended in the air, each one held up by sleek white metal beams. The contrast of the black rings and white supports gives it a bold, modern look right in the middle of the city.

After taking a moment to admire it, we continued and passed Saint George Terrace .

We made a brief stop at London Court, slipping once more into its charming little lane with Tudor-style façades and old-world details.

The entrance of London's court.
That's all the time we have in Perth, so we got back to our hotel, checked out and headed to the airport.

Day 1-Arrival in Bali, Indonesia

We flew from Perth to Bali.

When we arrived in Bali, the airport was absolutely chaotic. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people packed into one arrivals hall. Everywhere we looked, there were drivers holding up pieces of paper with guests’ names, a whole wall of signs moving above the crowd.

We waited among the bustle for our driver to find us, and once he did, we headed out into the warm evening air and made our way to our hotel in Uluwatu.

From the Airport, our driver drove us to our resort located in Uluwatu. Uluwatu is located in a coastal area on the southern tip of Bali, known for its towering limestone cliffs, sweeping ocean views, and the famous Uluwatu Temple perched right at the edge. It’s also one of Bali’s surf capitals, with powerful waves rolling in below the cliffs, especially stunning at sunset.

We arrived at Kapla Resort and settled in just as the evening settled over Uluwatu. This is the view from the balcony of the restaurant of our hotel.

Even though it was already dark and we couldn’t see much of the landscape, the view still felt beautiful with soft lights in the distance, the sound of night around us, and a sense of calm after a long day of travel.

We had dinner out on the balcony, enjoying the warm breeze and the peaceful atmosphere. Even though it was already dark and we couldn’t see much of the landscape, the view still felt beautiful—soft lights in the distance, the sound of night around us, and a sense of calm after a long day of travel.

I had the Hainan's rice and chicken.

Hoa ordered a fried duck with rice and green beans. We can't wait to start our adventure in Bali.
Over six days in Perth, we explored the city and its surroundings with a perfect mix of nature, history, and relaxed wandering. We visited Fremantle’s historic sites, walked through its old prison and markets, and enjoyed the lively waterfront. We spent a memorable day on Rottnest Island, taking in the turquoise bays, rugged coastline, and peaceful bike paths. Back in the city, we explored downtown Perth, Elizabeth Quay with its colorful lights at night, the quiet beauty of the quay in the morning, the Wangu Poles, the Bell Tower at Barrack Square, and the sculptures and laneways along St George’s Terrace and London Court.
We also ventured farther out to York, Mulka’s Cave, and Wave Rock, learning the stories of the land and walking across ancient granite formations shaped by time. From sweeping natural landscapes to the warm character of the city, each day offered something different and memorable.
Now, with our time in Perth complete, we are off to your next destination, Bali, where we will spend the next three weeks beginning a brand-new adventure.
