The Bund waterfront promenade-12/9/2023

The one mile long Bund waterfront promenade is an area famous for its stunning views of the city skyline including many of Shanghai most iconic and historical buildings lining the Huangpu River.

We are standing on the Puxi side over looking the modern skyscrapers of Lujizui in Pudong.

On the far left is the Oriental Pearl tower (the 3rd tallest building in Shanghai), the one that has an opening on the top and looks like a bottle opener is the Shanghai World Financial Center ( the 2nd tallest building in Shanghai), in front of it is the Jin Ma Tower (that kind of look like the Empire building is the 4th tallest building in Shanghai), and on the far right is the Shanghai Tower which is the tallest building in Shanghai.

The Oriental Pearl Tower is 1,100ft., located in the Pudong New District of Shanghai. Completed in 1994, it is one of the iconic cultural landscapes of Shanghai and one of the “Top Ten New Landscapes of Shanghai”.

It was a gorgeous fall day with clear blue sky.

I was able to capture a bird flying in the center of the picture.

We are headed to the North end of the Bund.  On each side is a lookout area for people to take pictures.

The Monument to the People's Heroes in Huang Pu Park.

The Shanghai People's Heroes Memorial Tower stands 79 ft. tall,  made of a concrete structure located at the north end of the Bund.

The structure was built by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government in 1993 to commemorate revolutionary martyrs, as well as those who have died fighting natural disasters.

Waibaidu Bridge the first all-steel bridge, and the only surviving example of a camelback truss bridge, in China. The present bridge is the fourth Western-designed bridge built at its location since 1856, in the downstream of the estuary of the Suzhou Creek (formerly known as Wusong or Soochow Creek), near its confluence with the Huangpu River, adjacent to the Bund.

We crossed the Waibaidu bridge and this is the view of the Bund from the bridge.
