Christmas & the Holidays - 12/26/12
Dinner at Osteria, Palo Alto with the kids
Most of the kids in our group are in college now and we rarely get to see them. When they come home during the holidays Hoa and I we take them out to lunch or dinner just to catch up. This year we all decided to have dinner instead of lunch so we can spend more time with them. The restaurant I selected for this evening is Osteria in Palo Alto.
Hoa and I we used to eat at Osteria when it was opened (in the late 80).
Back then going to Osteria was a real splurge for our tight budget when we just started out!
Now it is actually pretty reasonable for good Italian food.
Me with Kevin and Kristie.
Hoa forgot his camera so we used Hoa's Iphone for all these pictures.
Nice picture of Kevin and Kristie.

Tiffany and Vu |
Menu, Bread and butter. Ask your waiter to reheat the bread and it will make a huge difference. |
For Appetizers we ordered 3 dishes and shared between the 5 of us.
The classic Parma Prosciutto with Melon
Beef Carpaccio, thin slices of raw steak, onion, caper, lemon and mustard
Fondo Di Carciofo Con Gamberetti Artichoke bottom with shrimp . At first Kevin though the presentation was pretty lousy but he was surprised that it actually tasted pretty good!

Vu ordered the special of the day : Creamy ravioli filled with Salmon |
I ordered the Lamb in Marsala sauce.
I did not care that much for the sauce but the lamb was cooked properly.
Tiffany also ordered the special of the day: Mahi Mahi in creamy butter sauce
Kristie ordered the Penne Fantasia with chicken , sun-dried tomato, asparagus & garlic.
That's a huge portion! Kristie could not finish it so all of us got to sample a bit of it.
Kevin ordered the Petrale Livornese - sole with fresh tomatoes and garlic. |
For desserts we decided to share a few desserts. The classic Flan |
and of course the traditional Italian dessert: Tiramisu with mascarpone with whipped cream, espresso, liqueur, ladyfinger and chocolate
