Day 4-Tokyo-5/21/2019

Meiji-Jingu Shrine

Today is our last day in Tokyo.  Our plane is departing around 5:00Pm tonight so we have half a day before heading to the airport.

We decided to go back to Meiji-Jingu Shrine which we visited last year.

Meiji-jingu is huge park and so peaceful for nice stroll.

Entering the park

Huge Torii gate  leading to the forest and to Meiji Shrine- The gate is 40 ft. high.

A worker raking the ground.

I am not sure if this is the beginning of a wedding or a religious ritual but we were glad to see it.

All the men are dressed in Japanese style kimono

The offering of a branch of a sacred tree the Sasaki.

The men are lining up

The Shrine is in the back.

People from the ceremony are lining up to getting in the temple

Ceremony in session.

We are now leaving the park.

Right out the park is the Harajuku train station so it is really convenient to get here.

We are now on Takeshita street

Before entering the Takeshita street there is a huge Wolfgang puck restaurant just at the corner.

Takeshita street is a famous shopping street reserved for pedestrian only.

Lots of boutiques and shops in this area.

Seems like there are a lot of students in this area. Not sure if they are out here for lunch or for a break before going back to school.

Harajuky Mameshiba cafe is the first one to be open on Harajuku's iconic Takeshita street. Mame Shiba Inu are a smaller version of Japan's popular Shiba Inu dogs and you can play and pet the dogs while drinking coffee.

Too bad they are not open yet as I definitely would like to drink coffee here and play with the dogs.

We are now on Meiji-Dori Avenue, a famous shopping street.

We are now headed to Shibuya.

Our time is up and we are heading back to our hotel to pack, have a quick lunch, and then we will be leaving Tokyo.

We had such a good time and we hope to go back soon.
