Day 3- Kanazawa-10/22/2023

Arrival/Lunch

We took a 3 hours train from Tokyo to Kanazawa.

As soon as you get out of the Kanazawa station there is the iconic red Tsuzumi gate and hospitality dome.

Tsuzumi means drum and the gate was designed to honors the traditional performing art of Noh theater of Kanazawa city.

The gate has become the unofficial symbol of Kanazawa and is recognized for its combination of traditional wooden design and contemporary style.

This is the view from the Kanazawa station over looking at the city.

Kanazawa Station has admirers from around the globe and was called one of the most beautiful train stations in the world by a major travel magazine. The huge glass Motenashi Dome is also great for sheltering visitors from rain and snow.

Lunch

After checking in our hotel we walked around town and found this restaurant in the ground level of a mall.

The menu is limited but looks very good.

It is a really small restaurant with only 4 tables in the back of the restaurant.

Ready to order.

We ordered a platter of assorted sashimi for 1,980 Yen = $13.20

What a feat!  Fresh fish and so yummy.

I ordered the rice with fresh sashimi for 1,980 yen = $13.20 - What a steal!

It also came with a bowl of miso soup.

Our lunch was so delicious and it only cost us $27 in total.  Isn't it an incredible deal?
