Dinner at Afaria-4/20/2016

We arrived in Paris in the afternoon, just enough time to check in our apartment, refresh a bit and then we are off to Dinner at Afaria with Mai and Thierry.

This is my fourth visit at Afaria!  They serve the best duck ever and they are reasonably priced.  Reservation is a must as the restaurant is fairly small.

Very nice picture of the three of them.. Everyone seem very happy!

The menu

The guys picked a red bottle of wine: Petit Puch 2011 - €45

Appetizers

For appetizers we decided to order a few dishes to share.

Terrine artichaut au lard fume et view Comté - €12

Artichoke terrine with smoked bacon and aged Comté (the equivalent of Gruyère).

This is a really good dish-good flavors and perfect with a piece of bread.

The 2nd appetizer we ordered is a plate of Ravioles au saumon, épinard, creme au parmesan-€15

Ravioli with salmon, spinach in a creamy sauce with parmesan.

Also good dish on the rich side but we got a ravioli each so it worked out.

Main Dishes

Cuisse de pintade au farcie foie gras et a la truffle, gnocchi et topinambours cuit au jus- 24

Guinea fowl thigh stuffed with foie gras, gnocchi and Jerusalem artichokes cooked in juice.

We liked this dish but we were glad we shared it because it is too rich and there is no way you can eat the whole plate as a main dish.

The Guinea fowl was tender. the foie melted in your mouth...so delicious and it was not gamy at all.

Here is the "plat de resistance! " the famous Magret de canard grillé au sarment de vigne - €76 (€38 per breast) - This is for 4 people, each breast is a portion for two.

Grilled Magret de canard breast in vine shoot.

The duck breast is really delicious!  They grilled the meat and then brush it with a balsamic glaze.

This dish is never taken out of the menu and if you eat at Afaria you must order this dish.

French fries come with the duck.

View of the small kitchen...

For dessert we ordered a Baba soaked in rum and served with whipped cream!

The perfect ending to a perfect meal.
