Welcome party and Birthday celebration-8/20/2024

Son and his family are visiting the US to visit a bunch of Universities for Thomas and Louise. They are staying with us for a week and we wanted our friends to meet them so we are hosting a welcome party for them and since it is also Mail and Ha's birthday, we might as well celebrate everything over a good dinner.

Here are our guests of honor: Valerie, Louise, Thomas, and Son.

On the menu is a 5 course dinner with two desserts.

All of our guests are here and it is time to raise our glass!. Cheers!

Full house tonight with a total of 16 people including us at the dinner table.

I am platting the first dish with the help our Yes, our helper for the evening.

1st Course: Hamachi, assorted vegetables and fruits, in a passion fruit aguachile.

I always like this dish! Fresh, tangy, a tad spicy, so flavorful, and the colors are so vibrant making it a perfect summer dish.

The second course is a mushroom croquette with sautéed shitake and served with a spinach fondue. Next is a crab salad served on an endive leaf.

The croquette is creamy, crunchy and was paired with a delicious spinach fondue. The crab meat salad is simple but it is also very delectable.

I am now in the kitchen with Yes putting the 3rd course together. First, we are putting crab meat on the plate, next charred corn, and crouton.

The soup is poured at the table for a bit of entertainment purpose.

The 4th course is a portion for 2 people so there are only 8 bowls. First the Paella is set in the center of the bowl, then the sautéed shrimps, and then broth is poured over.
