Sorella, San Francisco-11/7/2024

We have been to Sorella a few years ago and had an excellent meal there, so Kevin suggested that we go back there for dinner to check it out if the food is still as good as our last dinner there.

The front of the restaurant .

View of the interior of the restaurant from our table.  At the end is a large open kitchen where you can see chefs working.

Cocktails and dinner menu.

Kevin ordered the Negroni Bianco (sort of) with tequila, cocchi americano, suze, mezcal mist, orange bitters.  Hoa ordered the Quintessential with bourbon, carpano bianco, amaro nonino, and marashish bitter.

Both cocktails were delicious.  I personally really like the Negroni Bianco as it is sour and sweet at the same time (so so good).  Hoa's cocktail is also very good but it is too strong for me.

Cheers!

To good health and a happy life!

Sorella's potato leek focaccia-simple delicious!

Stuffed calamari, prawn and scallop filling, butter beans, grilled lemon, and oreganata (Breadcrumb mixture).

OMG, this dish was incredibly delicious!  The calamari was so tasty and the beans and the oreganata had a bit of crunchiness, the lemon added a bit of acidity to the dish.  We all really enjoyed this dish.

Our 2nd appetizer is a Halibut crudo with meyer lemon, green pepperconr, avocado puree, radish, and sea beans.

The flavors really shined and the fish was so fresh that you can almost smell the sea.

For our main dish, we ordered the drunken Mafaldine, Potato Gnocchi, and Klingeman Farms Pork chop, and we shared everything.

Drunken Mafaldine braised in red wine, braised red cheek ragu, topped with burrata

The Mafaldine pasta is braised in red wine that is why it is called Drunken Mafaldine.  This dish is very satisfying, I like the texture of the braised pork cheek, the richness of the burrata, and the tangy pasta.

Potato Gnocchi, duck bolognese, soffritto, parmigiano reggiano.

Good thing we shared all the pasta becasue the portion are pretty copious.  Very good gnocchi with a tasty duck bolognese sauce.

Klingeman Farms Pork Chop with Tokyo turnip, caramelized Seckel pear, with mustard jus

The pork chop was cooked perfectly and was juicy, tender and so flavorful.  The vegaetables and pears are perfectly paired with the pork chop.

Vanilla Panna Cotta, plum compote, anise crumb

we also 3 scoops of gelato: Malted vanilla, espresso, and Acquqrello biscotti

What an excellent meal!  We will definitely be back again.
