Day 5-Sydney

Dinner at TheMeat & Wine Co. -12/30/2017

TheMeat & Wine Co. in Circular Quay is a high end steakhouse and known for their istinguished steakhouses across Australia, and the restaurant takes pride in serving the perfect steak, every single time.  The restaurant is located inside the Intercontinental hotel on Macquarie Street, a short two-minute walk from the breathtaking Royal Botanic Gardens.

We passed by the restaurant many times and this picture was taken on the first day we arrived and we saw the sign at the entrance.

The restaurant entrance on the left and the patio you see is the exterior of the Intercontinal Hotel.

Our reservation was around 8:00PM as we knew we needed time after coming back from an all day tour bust at the Blue Mountains.

When you walk in there is an entrance door for TheMeat & Wine Co. and next is a long corridor leading to the lobby of the Intercontinental hotel.

Since we are a few minutes early, we checked out the lobby and the Lounge of the Intercontinental Hotel.

The Lobby and the Cortile (Bar/Lounge) is all decorated for Christmas.  Very nice ambiance in here.  We might come back for a drink when we have time.

Time to check in for our Dinner reservation.  They have a lot of nice of Bourbon and Whiskey on display against the wall.

Large bar at the entrance of the restaurant.

We were led to our table.  This is the main dinning room.

Hoa consulting with out server and he recommended a flight of 3 Australian wine to start.

Hoa tasting the wine..

After tasting all three wine, Hoa will decide which one to order.

Hoa went with Barosa Babe Shiraz.

Sexy picture of Barosa babe on their label.

Hoa went with a Wagyu Rib eye served with French fries.

Kevin ordered a Rib eye on the bone.

Bon appetit!

I ordered a Karubi plate, slow cooked brisket, red miso, butternut squash puree & charred shallot.

This dish was in the entrees section as Hoa and I are sharing the steak.  I could not eat the steak on my own so I am so glad I got this small portion and was able to eat some steak too.

For dessert I selected an Affogato: Espresso, vanilla bean ice cream and choice of liquor: Bailey's, Kahlua, or Frangelico.

I selected Kahlua.

Pouring the Espresso shot into the glass.

Kahlua and espresso shot.

Ending the meal wiht coffee...

The restaurant has a very nice ambiance, very good service, but the steaks were just ok for us.  I think we are so spoiled with steakhouses in the U.S. like Mastro, that this is one is really pale in comparison with the quality of the meat and the way the beef was cooked.  We like our steaks to have a nice char and a crust on the outside which we did not get here.  Overall, we had a nice dinner experience but we probably will not be back.
