Mali-Ston -5/14/2019

Today we are headed to Split but we decided to make a stop at Mali-Ston for lunch per our friends' recommendation.  They were raving about having the best squid ink pasta during their trip to Croatia.

It takes about an hour to drive from Dubrovnik to Mali-Ston.

Mali-Ston is quaint little villa in the Peljesac peninsula known for their amazing seafood.

Oyster cultivation has existed for several centuries at Mali-Ston and they received many prices at various world exhibitions for these succulent delicacies.

The village is really small and there are not a lot of people around yet.

Beautiful view as soon as you get off the car.

The town has a historic city walls (we did not get to see it) and a fortress.

It is very peaceful and quiet here.

Close look at the fortress

Kapetanova Kuca is one of three restaurants in Mali Ston and it is also the nicest one.

The weather was so nice when we got there. Nice change from lots of rain in Dubrovnik.

We sat on the terrace and we get to enjoy the view and to soak in the warmth of the sun.

So serene here...

View of the harbor from our table.

Old fashion menu with a leather cover.

Appetizers, compliment of the house.

The Seafood platter was really good.

They also gave us an assortment of bread.

The restaurant is known for their risotto so we have to order it.

We also order the squid ink pasta which was highly recommended by our friends.

The portion is really copious here and we were glad we only order 2 portions for the 3 of us.

Both dish were delicious.  I don't think I ever have this type of pasta anywhere yet.  Very nice texture, and the squid ink sauce is really well-balanced.

This place is also so nice and relaxing that we felt we were at a luxury resort.  Definitely worth a stop here.

Well what can I say!  We ate everything on our plate...

On our way out of Mali Ston we noticed that there are lot of oysters farms.

Next... Split
