The Versace House
Casa Casuarina a/k/a the Versace House was built in 1930 and modeled after the Alcazar de Colon in Santo Domingo.
Gianni Versace purchased the building in 1992 for $2.9 million. After receiving city approval he demolished the Hotel next-door, and a two-story, 6,100-foot addition was built, transforming it into Versace's Miami Beach home. After Versace's 1997 murder, Donatella (his sister) sold the house to Peter Loftin a billionaire for $19 million. The house is located on Ocean Avenue in South Beach . Exterior viewing only. This pictures does not do justice to the house. It is much pretty and the front porche is very grandiose and impressive. I heard the current owner is trying to convert the house to a hotel.
The front gate. The door is actually very pretty, someone it did not translate well in this picture.
The famous Medusa Logo is very present , seen here on the iron gate. This house is very tastefully done. |
