Three weeks in New Zealand - 4/12 - 5/4/2024

Day 1-Auckland-4/12/2024

Hoa finally retired after working and staying in Shanghai for over a year.  Today is our last day in Shanghai and we are going to travel to New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Malaysia, and Japan for about 3 months before heading home.

Last day in Shanghai.  We are at the airport ready to board our plane to Auckland, New Zealand.

Downtown Auckland is filled with shops.

 

We realized that we needed a medium suitcase so we went a shop downtown auckland and found a very suitcase for our travel.

Dinner at Jervois Steakhouse

Established in 2006, Jervois Steak House is named after the street it is located.

 

Jervois Steak is ranked with a 5 star rating and known for its exceptional steaks and professional service.

Our table is very cozy and we could also see all the chefs working in the kitchen.

Hoa starting the evening with an Old Fashioned cocktail.

 

We started our meal with these 2 dishes.

 

Chicken liver parfait, picked grapes, Hazelnut crumb.

 

Market salmon sashimi, ponzu, fermented cucumber, yuzu mignonette

 

Cheers to our first meal in New Zealand.

 

Both dishes were delicious and finished everything.

 

Steak Dinner

Our server stopped by to show all the different cuts of meat they have and we both selected the Rib Eye on the bone.

 

Our grilled rib eye on the bone is about 1.3 pound.

 

Beautifully grilled with a nice sear on top and we like our meat medium rare.

 

Duck fat roasted rosemary potatoes and brocolini with hazel nut granola.

 

We selected green peppercorn sauce, Bearnaise, and Xo Sauce with our steak.

We have not eaten a good steak since we left the Bay area so this is a really good treat.  The steak was so delicous and flavorful and cooked to our liking.

 

warm bread pudding,  vanilla ice cream and roasted pineapple.

 

Affogato, homemade biscotti, vanilla gelato, liqueur.

 

Both desserts were delicious!

 

We had a really good meal here, excellent service in a nice and relax atmosphere.
