The Food

Tonight there are 16 people in out group so Sham, the owner suggested that we order Family style dinner.  Basically the menu offers 2 salads, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 2 desserts and if there is a dish we like the restaurant will refill it as many times as our heart's content!

We selected the Beet & potato Salad

Chilled potatoes and red beets, tossed with cilantro and red onions in Morocco's cumin balsamic vinaigrette

The second Salad we ordered was a Spinach, nuts and fruits Salad made with fresh spinach tossed in pomegranate honey vinaigrette with blue cheese, fresh fruits, and mixed nuts.

For appetizers we started with a beef Kebabs.  This is a good dish!  We re-ordered it a few times but we asked the beef to be cooked on the rare side per our liking.

For our second appetizers we ordered

Kefta meatballs made with Moroccan spiced ground beef meatballs, with cumin, paprika, cinnamon, and mint.

This dish got mixed review from out group.  I like it but most of the folks thinks it was just and okay dish.

Our first main dish we decided with a Chicken Tagine made with slowly braised chicken leg with saffron, turmeric, and white pepper served with carrots, zucchini, and cabbage.

This dish is actually pretty good.  The chicken has a  very good flavor and the meat is moist.

The family style menu did not include a lamb dish so we went ahead and order a Lamb and Vegetable couscous where lamb shank is braised then served with vegetables and couscous.

We all agreed that the lamb was the best dish of the evening.

And our last dish was a beef Tagine!

The restaurant is known for this traditional dish but all of us were so disappointed.  It was just too sweet with the addition of the prunes and apricots!

For dessert we had the almond paste wrapped in phyllo dough!  I was nicely surprised that this is actually pretty good.

I am not a fan of middle eastern dessert but this one is pretty good.

Close look at the almond paste drizzled with honey.  They were served while the pastry was still warm and crunchy.... yummy!

Our second dessert was a plate of green tea ice cream drizzle with chocolate bits.  We teased our server saying that they might have an Asian cousin and that's why they are serving this dessert!

After the restaurant we stopped by Dung's house for coffee and tea.  Carol got inspired and brought a Hookah for us to try out..

It actually pretty fun!  I do not smoke but I tried it out! It did not inhale but you can actually I taste the sweet passionate flavors without inhaling.

As usual an evening without Poker was out of the question....
