Visiting my mom at Père Lachaise

Père Lachaise Cemetery (Cimetière du Père-Lachaise) is the largest cemetery in the Paris.  The cimetery is huge, about 120 acres and it is a very busy place for tourists to visit.  It is actually a very relaxing and peaceful place.

This is the entrance of the cemetery.  Cars are not allowed in the cemetery so it is really nice and it seems more like a park than a cemetery.

The tomb of Eloise and Abelard, famous lovers.

Peter Abelard, a scholar and theologian at Notre Dame, falls in love with one of his pupils, Eloise.  Eloise is an educated woman, the niece of a canon at Notre Dame.  Moved by Abelard’s writings, Eloise writes him the first of their famous exchange of letters on love and suffering.  Eloise goes to a convent, where she dies and is buried in Abelard’s tomb.

Jim Morrison's tomb.  Jim Morrison is the famous American singer from the 70's  band "The door" .
