Phuc and Huyen set out all the wine bottles on the main dinning room so as you enter their home it is impossible not to see this impressive collection of wine carefully selected for this evening.

Magnum bottle of 2006 Anderson's Conn Valley "Right Bank" Napa Valley Bordeaux Blend

95 points from Robert Parker: "The 2006 Right Bank (70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc) exhibits a dark plum/purple hue along with gamy, cedary, black cherry, black currant, plum, toffee, and caramel aromas. Deep, rich, and youthful with significant tannin as well as impressive concentration and length, this is a stunning, complex Napa Valley red that should continue to evolve for 15-20 years. Todd Anderson and his winemaker, Mac Sawyer, are on top of their game at this backwater winery tucked away in Conn Valley, a few miles east of the Meadowood Resort. Anderson’s Conn Valley Vineyards became famous because of their long-lived, impressive 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from their estate vineyards in Conn Valley. They have added two brilliant proprietary reds, the Right Bank (usually dominated by Merlot with the balance Cabernet Franc), and the Eloge, a wine that is based on a French Medoc with two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Conn Valley’s wine possesses a distinctive singularity as there is not another wine in Napa that is reminiscent of them." (12/09) 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.

2 Magnum bottles of Caymus 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon (my favorite wine for the evening)

92 points According to the Wine Spectator: Ripe and fleshy, with rich plum, wild berry, spice and savory herb notes that are complex, full-bodied and expansive on the palate, ending with firm tannins and a dash of espresso. Drink now through 2016. 37,800 cases made. Tasting Notes - For Caymus fanatics this is going to be a spectacular wine for the cellar and the table. The 2007 vintage is reminiscent to the 1994 and 1997 vintages, bold and rich with a remarkable seamless quality. According to Chuck Wagner - The aromas are layered with pipe tobacco, fermentation pumice, log cabin fire, moist steel, dried Poblano peppers and fine quality oak. Sweet, toasty fresh brown spice leads to the impression of richness and complexity. We created this wine to be low in tartness yet abundant in tannins, providing impressions of friendly chock richness. The palate enters rich with sweet, ripe tannins, expanding to a greater breadth of refined textures.

1997 Dalla Valle Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

93 points Robert Parker: "The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon (2,800 cases from a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc) boasts an opaque purple color as well as a gorgeous nose of mineral-infused black currants, and spicy oak. Full-bodied, structured, muscular, and multi-dimensional, it is approachable, but best cellared for 2-4 years, and drunk over the following 20-25 years." (12/2000) According to Wine Spectator: "Aging nicely. Well structured, firm and intense, with maturing currant and blackberry fruit that's fresh and lively. Graceful aftertaste.

Robert Foley Merlot Napa Valley 2007

Here's the Parker blurb: 'It is hard to find much better Merlot than Foley’s 2007 Merlot. This is a blockbuster wine as well. Opulent, exuberant, with that certain “wow” factor from layers of melted fudge, espresso roast, plum, fig, and black cherry and currants, there is an impression of sweetness because of the high levels of alcohol/glycerin. This is a whopper to drink over the next 14+ years.

Silver Oak 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (courtesy of Dung)

Robert Parker: "The Silver Oak Alexander Valley cuvee is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in new oak... Herbaceous, with sweet red and black currant fruit, spice box, and tell-tale oakiness, this is a wine to drink during its first decade of life."

By the end of the party we drank a total of 6 regular bottles and 3 magnum bottles (counts as 2 bottles) so the total is 12 bottles for a total of 20 people.  This roughly mean that each couple drank more than a bottle of wine! I could not believe we drank that much!

Beside the excellent  wine selection we also have a variety of cognac. A Martell Cordon Bleu (Courtesy of Duy/thuy), Remy X0 (courtesy of Loan/Minh),  and a Bottle of GlenLivet single malt scotch (courtesy of Doan/Tuan) to complete the liquor selection.
