Kezhi garden
Kezhi garden is located on the bank of Jingtinggang river on Xijin street in
the north part of Zhujiajiao and really easy to miss and the entrance is
really small. Built in 1912, the design of this
traditional garden at the northern tip of Zhujiajiao incorporates both Chinese
and European design elements.
In the center of the garden there is a five-story building with a pavilion on its roofs and is the tallest structure in Zhujiajiao.
Kezhi Garden is one of the largest Chinese
traditional gardens in southern China that you’ve probably never heard of. It
used to be owned by Ma Weiqi, a salt merchant and one of the wealthiest men in
Zhujiajiao. The garden itself is composed of two parts: the study area (Ke
Garden) and the farming area (Zhi Garden, enforcing the importance of studying
and farming to maintain a happy and healthy household.

The living room is place to receiving guests and tasting tea. It is arranged with chairs for gathering and decorated with intricate carvings and paintings.
