Osaka at night

Since it was still early in the evening we decided to walk around before getting back to our hotel

Located in a quiet street in Dotonburi, the discreetly hidden Hozenji Temple manages to preserve a small slice of old Japan right in the middle of this otherwise chaotic shopping area.

Hoa praying....

Next to the main shrine is an area with lots of traditional lanterns are hang on the ceiling.

Beautiful lanterns.

It is so pretty.

Hozenji Yokocho is an old fashioned alleyway beside Dotonbori.

The tranquil street is known for its traditional shops and restaurants, soft lantern light, and cobblestone streets.

A traditional Japanese restaurant with a very cool vibe.

People working in the restaurant

We are now on the Dotonbori area with all the giants neon lights, street food, clubs, stores, and bars.

The famous Kani Douraku restaurant, which prominently displays an enormous crab above its entrance.

This is a famous restaurant in Osaka that specialized in grilled meat.

The front of the restaurant with a giant statue.  There is also a long time to get in.

Dotonbori is known as the entertainment hub of Osaka with colorful neon lights which is the home to some of the city's best bars, restaurants, and nightclubs.

There is also a street lover's paradise and the best place to sample Osaka's famous bite-sized snacks.

Dotonbori is often called the "Time Square of Osaka" with vibrant and colorful neon light displays.

Straight ahead is the famous Shinsaibashi-suji street, a pedestrianized shopping arcade which is one of Osaka's longest and most historic shopping streets.

The entrance of Shinsaibashi-suji street.

We did not walk the whole length of the street but there are so many people around.

The Dotonbori canal runs right in the middle of the entertainment scene.

There is a 20 minute mini cruise to get familiarize with the Dotonbori area.

Dotonbori Don Quijote is one of Japan largest discount stores with its yellow Ferris wheel is an Osaka Minami area landmark.  Inside the store there is an amusement park like section of every kind of item imaginable.

The famous Glico man is the unofficial mascot of Dotonbori with a large neon sign featuring a man running a blue race track positioned directly above the Dotonbori bridge.

It is a very popular photo spot for tourists and local alike

The Glico Man billboard was erected in 1935 as an advertisement for Glico, the Japanese food company that produces Pocky and Pretz.
