Boiled Lobsters- 8/12/09

This year lobsters are so cheap!  You can find them as low as $6.99 to $7.99 a pound which is a real bargain.  They usually go for $13.99 up to $16.99 a pound.  I usually don't like to cook lobsters because it is so scary to handle them.  I did some research on the internet to find out how to kill them humanely.   It turns out to be actually pretty easy and they are kill instantly.  A 10" chef knife is pointed and aimed about an inch or an inch and a half from between the eyes towards the tail. Next the point of the knife  is pressed into the head until the point of the knife goes all the way through the lobster's head and then bringing the blade down between the eyes to finish the cut of the head.
This kills the lobster as quickly and painlessly as possible.  Trust me this really works.

The meat was so juicy and unbelievable tasty.

What a beautiful lobster!

It is a bit messy to eat to remove the shells from the lobster but worth doing it.

Close look at the lobster's tail.

Preparation work..

The small one on the left  is less than 2 pounds and the second one was about 3 pounds.  Don't buy lobster that are too big, I was told they are best at about 2 pounds.

After killing the lobster humanely, Hoa is inserting the lobsters in a pot of boiling water.

both lobters are in the pot.  Bringing the water to boil and then the heat will lower to medium and the lobster will be cooked for about 12/15 minutes.

Removing the lobster from the pot...they are ready to be served!
