Hoa's Birthday and Pakalolo-5/15/2021
Dessert/Pakalolo/Poker
For dessert I a made a galette des rois (King's cake), a traditional French cake usually served on Epiphany, the day the Three Kings visited baby Jesus.
A galette des rois is made of an irresistibly creamy almond filling sandwiched between two flaky, buttery layers of puff pastry.
It is best served warm as the puff pastry are still flaky and crunchy and the almond cream is warm.
I served a portion to each couple.
The second portion is an orange cake with crème Anglaise.
Basically each couple has a portion of the Galette des rois and a portion of the orange cake.
These little cakes are so moist and on top, it is a combination of brown sugar, orange segments, and butter that gave the cakes a really good flavor.

And of course freshly brewed coffee to go with the desserts.
