3 Days in Lyon, France-5/26/2022 to 5/28/2022

Lunch/coffee and pastries - 5/28/2022

It has been almost 3 weeks that we did not have Vietnamese food and Hoa is craving for a hot bowl of Pho.  We searched on the internet and found a Pho restaurant close by so we are just walking over.

The bridge of Gallieni over the Rhone River.  It was built in 1965 and was named after a 19th century French military officer, Joseph Gallieni. An earlier bridge was named Pont du Midi but that was changed to Gallieni at his passing in 1916

Crossing over the Rhone River.

We arrived at Pho 69.

The restaurant is located on Rue D'aguesseau in the 7th arrondissement.  This area is considered to be the "China Town" of Lyon.

The menu.

I ordered a Hủ Tiếu and Hoa ordered a Bowl of Pho.

The bowl of Pho looks decent but it was not very good.  Way to salty and not very tasty.

My Hủ Tiếu did not score any better.

We knew it even before eating here that the food is not going to be our standard but w took a chance and it did not pay off.

Pasteur street with lots of Asian restaurants.

A row of Asian restaurants...

Bon Bo Hue Restaurant.

We are now back on the bank of the Rhone river.

On the left is the Basilica of Fourviere and the metallic tower up on the hill, in the center is L'hotel-Dieu de Lyon.

Velo'v is a bicycle sharing system run by the city of Lyon.  The bike hire service Vélo'v brought in by Grand Lyon municipality and operated by JCDecaux has been in place since 2005.

The system began on 19 May 2005 and now provides over 3000 bicycles available from over 350 stations situated around the cities of Lyon and Villeurbanne. The aim is to have stations within 300m of every point in the city. The bicycles can be returned to any other station. Access is via a subscription system in which a card is purchased online or at a station giving the user an account and a PIN with which they access bicycles through a terminal situated at the bicycle stations.

Palais de la Bourse or Palais du Commerce is a building located in the quarter Les Cordeliers, in 2nd arrondissement of Lyon. It currently houses the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lyon

In 1994 the building was classified as monument historic.

Time for coffee and pastries.  We stopped at the Les Frangins boulanger Patisserie for a quick snack.

The pastries shop is owned by two brothers (les Frangins meaning brothers in French).

Two brothers, one is a baker, the other a pastry chef. Since 2015, Brice and Maxime have been preparing tasty products with high quality raw materials.

So many pastries to choose from...

They are all so tempting but I can only pick a few.

Pain aux raisins, brioche, etc...

Tarte aux pommes, Almond tartlets with pear and chocolate tart.

I selected 2 canneles and an almond tartlet with fresh raspberries and coffee for the two of us.

Pastries here are so affordable.  The cannele is 1,70 Euros each and the raspberries tartlet is 3.50 euros.

We got a table outside and we are enjoying our coffee and pastries.

Everything is so delicious!  I can definitely get use to this lifestyle.
