Lots of stairs up and down.
View of the Civita as we are going down.
We are now on Via Duomo (Church Street)

We saw this restaurant and decided to stop here for lunch.

Delicious!
Spaghetti with sweet peppers, anchovies and fried breadcrumbs. Simple but yet so delicious.
Spaghetti with broad bean cream, pork cheek, sweet peppers and fried breadcrumbs
We did well as all the dishes we ordered were very good.
Time to eat.
After lunch we went shopping and stumble on this artist's shop
He makes cukoo and here he is showing us how it is made.
I bought one cukoo from him and there is a whistle on top. Very cute!
The cukko is a typical whistle of Matera and it wa used since the birth of Christ.
The owner of this store let his friendly golden retieiver greets customers.

Chiesa del Purgatoria (Purgatory church) was built between 1725 to 1747 and was constructed as a place for poeple topray for the souls trapped in limbo between heaven and hell.
This 18th-century baroque church is curiously adorned with numerous skulls, skeletons, and other death-related decor. We could not get in as it was close during lunch time.
Another Circle of life scupture by Italian Andrea Roggie close by the church.
Very beautiful piece.
Palazzo Lamfranchi National Museum of Matera is located on the Piazza Pascolli
Palazzo Lanfranchi is considered one of the best examples of 17th
century architecture in Matera. It was built at the request of Monsignor
Lanfranchi between 1668 and 1672 and was intended to be used as a
seminary thanks to bequests by the town’s mayor Marco Malvindi and Bishop
Lanfranchi’s family
