The arrival - Day 1

Now that Kevin is older we wanted to send him to Paris to spend some time with his French cousins and get to know them and it is also a good opportunity to practice his French.  Hoa comes from a family of 10 brothers and sisters so before Kevin left for Paris I made him an organization chart of the family so he can refer to and also to get familiar with the family. Kevin visited Paris many times but he was too small to remember his cousins and the aunts and uncles..  This time Kevin is spending his time without us so the whole family pitched in to take the boys around Paris for some sight seeing and they also thrown in a few fun activities.

Kevin Vu just graduated from High school and decided he should join Kevin for a little adventure in Paris. Both of them was picked up at the airport by Den (Hoa's brohter) and then was driven to Cang's (Hoa's sister) house for a welcome party (too bad I only have 2 pictures of the party).  Almost all of Hoa's  brothers, sisters, and cousins were there to greet both them.

Julie, Kevin and Kevin in the backyard.

Both Kevins, Den and Julie

Cang made a huge pot of Pho to welcome the boys. After dinner the cousins took them to La Fête de la Musique (Music festival). These kids were just lucky that their arrival coincide with the music festival in Paris.

Fête de la Musique

La Fête de la Musique is a lively street music festival held every June 21st in Paris, and is one of the year's most popular events in the city of light. Hundreds of musicians gather in the streets, bars, and cafes of Paris, giving free performances of everything from jazz and rock to hip-hop and electronic music.  La Fête de la Musique was launched in 1982 by the French Ministry for culture and it takes place every 21st June, the day of the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere.

Le Louvre - DAY 2

Den took off two days to drive the kids around Paris.  The first stop is le Louvre, the famous national museum of France, which is the most visited museum in the world.

Walking from Le Jardin des Tuileries to Le Louvre.

The famous glass pyramid designed by the architect I. M. Pei, located in the main courtyard, the Cour Napoléon.

Fountain and Glass Pyramid in the cour Napoléon in front of the Louvre Palace.

Both of them did not want to go inside because they have seen it many times before and beside the line is just too long.

Avenue des Champs- Élysées

Avenue des Champs-Élysées is a probably one of the most famous street in the world filled with Cafés, luxury specialty shops and stunning trees.  Champs-Élysées means Elysian Fields which is the place of the blessed dead in Greek Mythology.  It always fun to work around and it is always crowed no matter what time it is.

Posing on the Champs-Élysées avenue.  The Arc the Triomphe is in the back.

The boys got lucky to have such nice weather in Paris!

The famous Lido!

I told Kevin to take a picture of the new Louis Vuitton Store... and he did!

The Arc de Triomphe

The Arc de Triomphe is a monument that stands in the center of "Place de l'Étoile", at  the western end of the Champs-Élysées. The Arc de Triomphe (Triumph Arc) honors those who fought for France, particularly during the Napoleonic Wars.  On the inside and the top of walls are all of the names of generals and the wars they fought.

The Arc is also part of the Axe Historique (I'll tell you more about the Axe).

Beneath the Arc there is  the tomb of the unknown soldier from World War I .

Resting a bit ... before lunch time.

Lunch time...

Potager...some type of vegetable soup.

Kevin favorite Escargot de Bourgogne served with salad.

Trying to take the escargot out of its shell is not an easy task for Kevin!

Kevin enjoying his Fish dish.  This is part of the menu they picked.
