Montmatre - Day 2 Con't

Montmartre is primarily known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacré Cœur located on the summit hill of Montmatre, also known as la butte de Montmartre. The hill is about 130 meters high = 425 feet high so be prepared to bring comfortable shoes to go up... Many artists had studios or worked around the community of Montmartre such as Salvador Dalí, Modigliani, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh.

Great view of Paris...The building with the dome is the Pantheon.

 

The building with the blue tubes is le Centre Georges Pompidou is a complex in the Beaubourg area of the 4th arrondissement of Paris, near Les Halles and it was designed in the style of high-tech architecture.

 

The tall black building is la tour Maine-Montparnasse (Maine-Montparnasse Tower), also commonly named Tour Montparnasse, is a 210-meter (689 ft) tall office skyscraper located in the area of Montparnasse (therefore the name). Constructed from 1969 to 1972, it is the tallest skyscraper in France and the ninth tallest building in the European Union

This area is behind the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur wherel ots of artists, mostly painters, are displaying their paintings or crafts.  It is a very lively area and it is fun to walk around.
