 Day 5 - Hapuna Beach

If you're looking for a long and sandy beach on the big Island then Hapuna Beach is it.  Hapuna Beach was named the Best Beach in America by Stephen Leatherman of Florida International University,  known as "Dr Beach", in 1993.  The beach is wide and long, stretching for several hundred yards and offers plenty of play room with fine soft sand, which a nice change from the lave rock beach. The clear water offers excellent snorkeling when the ocean is calm. Skilled swimmers can snorkel almost a mile down the coast to reach the beautiful Wailea Bay. When the surf picks up Hapuna often serves up some excellent boogie boarding..

Overview of Hapuna Beach

The beach is not very crowded so it felt like a private beach.

The kids decided to burry Bo in the sand....

Looks like it took a lot of man power to cover Bo with Sand...

Fun in the sun...

The job is done!

The waves kept taking the sand away so the kids had to add more sand to keep Bo's body covered in sand.

Time to go... Rinsing my feet...

The kids' turn to rinse off the sand before we take off...
