Day 2- Lunch at Time Out Market-5/12/2022

Time Out Market Lisboa is a food hall located in the Mercado da Ribeira at Cais do Sodré neighborhood.  They opened their door in May 2014 and is the first of several planned food hall ventures for Time Out Magazine. Time Out group is a global media and entertainment company and has since developed into a global platform.  The Time Our Market was so successful that in 2019, the Time Out Market project went international, with the opening of new markets in Miami, New York, Boston and Chicago, and in Montreal, Canada.

Our Uber driver dropped us off in front of the entrance of the Mercado Da Ribeira.

There are many entrances to the Time out Market, this one is the main entrance.

People has a choice to either sit inside or outside to eat/drink.

The building is a 19th century market hall, conveniently located across the street from the ferry terminal and a metro station.

My favorite Pasteis de Nata store: Manteigaria

There are about 40 restaurants/shops and they have about 500 seats inside the food hall and about 250 more outdoor.

Insde the fool Hall, it has the feel of a modern food hall with dozens of stalls serving savory food, sweet desserts and liquid libations.

In the center there are lots of communal tables and most of the restaurants are located against the walls.

This area is called the Chef's kitchen, some of the nation's most pretigious chefs dishes at affordable prices.

This first stall belongs to chef is Miguel Castro E Silva known as a pioneer in modern Portugese cuisine.

His iconic dishes are: Bacalhau à Brás and Francesinha sandwiches which did not apeal to me so I moved on to the next stall.

The 2nd stall is from Henriqe Sa Pessoa, the two Michelin-starred chef (for his Alma restaurant, in Chiado), has the menu of his Time Out Market eatery divided between lighter salads, sandwiches.

I looked at the menu and ordered his popular Chef's suckling pig sandwich.

After we ordered our food, we are just walking around to find a table to sit.  They give you a little square device that will light up once the food is ready and you have to back to the stall to pick up your food.

There are so many restaurants inside the food hall, making it so difficult just to pick one of two.

We will definitely come back to try other restaurants.

Our order is ready! This is the black braised pork cheeks, with mashed potatoes, ham and vegetables.

This dish is the ultimate comfort food, very tasty but the portion was too generous and we could not finish it.

Cost:   14.5 Euros.

We also orderd a Crispy pig's bifana sandwich- 13.50 Euros.

OMG, Delicious!  Lots of crispy skin, the meat was flavorful and so tasty served with a lot of crispy potatoes.

We loved this dish.  Again, the portion is very generous.

We ordered both dish, a bottle of water and a glass of beer and whole bill came to 33.50 Euros.

We really enjoyed our lunch!

We came back the next day for lunch and this time we wanted to try the croquettes that we saw yesterday.

Ordering croquettes from Croqueteria.  They have an array of tasty croquettes and it was so difficult jut to pick a few.

This place is alwasy full of people.  After ordering, you have to go around and find a table.

We ordered too much yesterday so today we are going to have a very light lunch.   I ordered 4 type of croquettes.

Cost: 4 croquettes, 1 bottle of water, a glass of beer-11 Euros.

Duck with vegetable croquette and Iberian black pork croquette.

Cuttle fish with Squid ink and croquette traditional flavor

They are all very good and so different in taste so I guess you will need to order a bunch.

Since it was a light lunch, I decided to get some pasteis de Nata for desert.

This is one of favorite brand and their Pasteis de nata is always served warm or freshly out of the oven.

I also orderd a cup of Americano coffee and 2 Pasteis de Nata- Cpst 4,00 Euros.

Cheap lunch to today!
