Day 10- Hoi An-12/30/2023

We have seen Hoi An at night and today we are coming to see it during the day.  During the day it is less crowded because people like to come at night time when all the lanterns are lit up but in the day the city is still very charming.

The entrance of the Old town in Hoi An

During the day, the town still looks very quaint.

An antique car cruising down the main street in Old town.

It is starting to rain but that does not stop us from walking down the main street.

A street vendor selling fresh fruits.

The town is known from the vibrant yellow facades.

Walking in the rain...

A quaint restaurant along the way.

The Japanese bridge is under renovation and it is covered in metal sheet facade.

It will take 2 years to completely restore the bridge.

Bridge over the Thu Bon River

Beautiful yellow houses near the river.

Houses next to the river bank.

One of Hoi An’s nicknames is ‘yellow town’ because there are many buildings and alleys painted in yellow and became the signature color in the region. Since 1999, when Hoi An was inscribed to be a world heritage site by Unesco, the city has suggested buildings lining the main streets to paint yellow-color walls. Nowadays, lots of constructions in and around the heritage area (hotels, restaurants, coffee shops,  governmental offices, etc.) are also painted yellow.

Madame Kieu Restaurant.

Our cousin told us to stop by Vys Market for Banh Mi.

The entrance of Vy's market.

Vy's market is a food court and they also give cooking lessons.

A stall making fresh noodles.

Students learning how to make noodles.

Students watching the instructor showing them how to make dumplings.

Hoa and Thuan ordering Banh Mi for a quick snack.

Banh Mi and Vietnamese coffee.  The Bank Mi was delicious!

Sitting down to enjoy our coffee and Banh Mi.

Ladies making cha gio (Vietnamese fried hand roll).

Lovely lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

The city looks really nice even on a rainy day.

NEXT... Lunch and a stroll in Da Nang
