Day 1- Arrival in Florence-5/19/2022

We flew from Lisbon to Florence and we arrived around 7:00pm just enough time to check in our Air B&B and rest a bit before it is time for dinner.

Our Air B&B is located in the historic center of Florence and less than 5 minutes from the Cathedral of Florence which you can see the dome in the back ground.

Beautiful view with the sunset.

This is Piazza Dei Ciompi located in the historic center of  Florence.

I was told that the during the day, the square becomes a flea market.

The square was recently renovated and looks really nice.

Lots of restaurants in this area.

People sitting under the arcade to enjoy their meal or drinks.

Further down a restaurant with few tables out in the street (Pedestrian only).

This is so fun, people really enjoy just sitting outside with friends over drinks or food.

We passed by this Osteria and it looks nice so we decide to eat here.

View of the neighborhood from our table.

We got a table in the open air.

Table set up.

Front of the menu.

Bread, wine (5 Euros per glass) , and a Negroni (6 Euros) for Hoa.

The weather was perfect for an al fresco dinning.

Cheers to our first evening in Florence.

Assorted roasted vegetables, burrata, Parmesan -9 Euros

Hoa and I we shared this appetizers.

Roasted zucchini, eggplant, tomato, arugula, burrata-Simple but delicious when the ingredients are fresh.

Hoa selected a Garganelli Florentine Ragu with wild boar.  Nothing to add except that it was really good -14.00 Euros

The way the Italian are cooking and eating pasta is a bit different than in the U.S.  They served Al dente meaning the pasta should still have a little resistance when you bit into it.

The texture should be tender but firm and chewy but it is a lot more firm than the way it is served in the U.S.

I ordered a Carbonara with fresh black truffles-18 Euros.

OMG, the smell of the truffles by itself is to die for.

Simple but yet so delicious!  I never had so much truffles in one dish.

We both shared both dishes and we enjoyed every single bite.

Ending our meal with a homemade Tiramisu-5 Euros

We are so glad we selected this neighborhood restaurant as the food was good, great service and we also enjoyed eating in the open air.

Our whole meal came to 46.20 Euros which is really reasonable considering we had 2 glass of wine, a cocktail, a starter, 2 main dish, and a dessert.

It was dark by the time we are done with our dinner.  Nice view of the bell tower of the Abbey of Fiorentina in the back ground.
