Dinner at Golden View

Golden view restaurant is located on the south bank of the River Arno just east of the Ponte Vecchio witht  sunset views of the Ponte Vecchio (bridge) as dusk falls are indeed golden just like the name of the restaurant.

We are headed to the restaurant via Ponte Vecchio

The entrance of the restaurant.  There is some construction on the facade right now.

As soon as you walked in there is a huge room with a full size piano against the wall.

Bar and hall way leading to the restaurant in the back.

Platting counter.

Hoa's favorite patta negra Jamon

Display of a wooden box with wine on the counter.

Champagne rack

Wine rack along the way.

The owner Tommaso Grasso is a passionate collector of art and wine and his restaurant is reflectiong his passion.

We passed by the main dining room which does not have a view of the River Arno.

Our table is at the end with the best view.

Here is our view of Ponte Vecchio and the river Arno.

Closer look at Ponte Vecchio

Table set up.

The menu

Primi course menu

Secondi course menu

Check out their wine list-they have Chateau Lafite Rothschild 2000 (Magnum bottle) for 10,000 Euros

Colorful flower arrangement on our table.

Hoa discovered Negroni and so far this one is the best of them all.

We definitely have the best table in the house.

The view is fantastic!

Assortment of bread.

Olive oil and bread, so simple but yet so good!

We shared the Suckling pig terrine with fennel confit and potato mousse with crunchy pistachio.

The suckling pig was tender and just melted in our mouth, so flavorful!

Cheers!

It is so nice to dine with a great view.

Hoa ordered a very good local red wine.

For the main dish I ordered a Linguine with clams and mullet bottargo from Cabras.

The linguine was al dente, the sauce was bright, a bit garlicky, and the sweet clams make this dish so yummy.  The bottarga added a hint of fishiness (like uni or caviar) and saltiness' that definitely elevated the dish.

Hoa ordered Moulard duck breast served with buttered beets and potatoes sfogliatelle.

The breast duck was cooked to our linking, the sauce is delicious and the portion was very generous.

For dessert we ordered a trio of Gelato with hazelnut and chocolate shavings.

Excellent gelato.

it was getting dark by the time we were done with our meal,

Ponte Vecchio at night.

Our meal is over and we are now leaving the restaurant.

I love this restaurant and if you are ever in Florence make sure to reserve a table a head of time and ask for the table with a view.

Great Italian food, service is exceptions and the view is a real big bonus to great dinning experience.
